In this article will add the smooth scroll effect that i left out in thefirst article.

So before you go too far, below is the video that i created to guide you in adding this simple smooth scrolling effect.

Tutorial - Part 2

First Example (previous post)

This is the code that i created to scroll to the top when the user clicks on the button. As you saw in the previous Article, When the user clicks on the button, it would just jump to the top within micro seconds hence having no smooth scroll.

copy

backBtn.addEventListener('click', () => {
	window.scrollTo(0,0);
});

Updated Smooth Scroll Code(Use this).
copy

backBtn.addEventListener('click', () => {
	window.scrollTo({
		top: 0,
		behavior: 'smooth'
	});
});

Extra information.

Window.scrollTo() scrolls to a particular set of coordinates in the document.

Sytanx

copy

window.scrollTo(options)
window.scrollTo(x-coord, y-coord)

In this case, the x-coord is the pixel along the horizontal axis of the document that you want displayed in the upper left.

Plus, y-coord is the pixel along the vertical axis of the document that you want displayed in the upper left.

And finally, options is a scrollToOptions dictionary.(Watch Tutorial)
